The Big John Deere 4 (DVD)
This DVD is packed full of information, scenery and music, in what's just another year on the farm. We visit different farms around Ireland including one of the biggest John Deere contractors in Ireland, John Dan O'Hare from Annaclone near Banbridge in Co. Down. John Dan runs a fleet of 32 tractors, 26 of which are John Deere's. It shows them leave the yard in the morning for a typical days work.
What a sight it is to see so many tractors leave the yard at the one time to service the needs of farmers as far away as Co Louth, Meath, Armagh as well as Co Down, and Antrim. It's nice to see all the implements behind these tractors as they head to plough, sow, etc. We also see the harvest stack machine built around a John Deere 6220s cutting the lawn turf in Myroe near Limavady in Co Derry, in the fields belonging to John Jameson from Evergreen Lawn's.
We then move south to the capital of Ireland, Dublin where we visit the Folev brother's farm in Kinsealy in Malahide, and an outlying farm of 250 acres in Ashbourne, Co Meath where they use two of the biggest John Deere tractors in Ireland, an 8530 and an 8430. We see them plough with a 10 furrow Overum plough and cultivate with a 4.6 metre disc cutting Simba Xpress and also sowing spring barley with a Simbahorsch 6 metre disc.
We then head north again to a farm in Ballygowan in Co Down belonging to J & D Townley Ltd, where James and Roy Townley and Cleet prepare to sow a 30 acre field with maize. We go on then to Poyntzpass in Co Armagh where Gareth Cairns Contracts prepare to distribute slurry with a John Deere 6920s and Slurrykat 12 metre dribble bar, which is invented and designed by Slunykat in Waringstown Co Armagh.
We also call again with John Dan O'Hare to see his silage fleet leave the yard on a lovely August morning to cut the thousands of acres of silage and whole crop, a sight to behold!
